1. Commissioning Complete

The switchgear installation at Shandong Hongzhitai New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. in Xintai, Shandong, has completed commissioning.

Commissioning is the stage where equipment stops being an installation and starts being a working system. Every circuit is traced back to its drawing, every protection device is set and proved, and every interlock, signal and indication is confirmed to tell the truth about the equipment behind it.

Only when all of that is done does the room in these photographs become a substation rather than a row of cabinets.

2. What Was Installed: KYN28A-12 Metal-Clad Switchgear

The main equipment is KYN28A-12 metal-clad withdrawable switchgear: indoor, three-phase, 50 Hz, built for single-busbar and single-busbar sectionalised systems from 3.6 kV to 12 kV.

Its function is to receive and distribute electrical energy and to control, protect and monitor the circuits connected to it — which makes it the point where incoming supply, outgoing feeders, metering and protection all meet in one room.

The arrangement is legible on the panel fronts. The head of the run carries the incoming isolation panel for the first busbar section and the incoming panel for the second, followed by circuit-breaker panels with 630 A ratings marked on the front.

Each panel is identified by number — G01, G02 and onward — alongside QR-coded identification, single-line diagrams and safety warnings.

3. The DC Battery Screen

Alongside the switchgear sits the DC battery screen. It is the standby source that keeps protection, control and indication alive when the main supply is not there — which is exactly the moment those circuits matter most.

The screen combines the charging and distribution section with the battery bank itself, so the whole DC system can be inspected in one place. In the photographs the battery string and the instrumented front panel sit in the same enclosure.

4. What “Commissioning Complete” Means

A commissioning sign-off is a list of things that were done. Ours reads like this:

• Every circuit traced and confirmed against the drawings, panel by panel

• Protection settings applied as designed and proved to operate

• Withdrawable trucks checked for alignment and interchangeability along the run

• Interlocks and safety shutters verified, so no panel can be operated out of sequence

• Indication, metering and alarm signals confirmed against conditions on site

• Insulation and dielectric tests passed before energisation

• Labelling, diagrams and the physical site brought into agreement

None of it is visible in a photograph. All of it decides whether the room behaves the way the drawing says it will.

5. Site Record

Two views of the same run: the full length of the switchgear line, and the operating aisle between the rows. Floor markings, access clearance and the position of each panel against its number are part of what gets checked at this stage.

6. About Zikai Electric

Shanghai Zikai Electric Co., Ltd. (ZIKAI) manufactures, retrofits and services complete power equipment packages: medium-voltage switchgear, low-voltage distribution assemblies, box-type substations, pole-mounted and outdoor vacuum circuit breakers, capacitor compensation devices and associated distribution equipment.

Projects are delivered from equipment supply through installation and commissioning.

Editor’s note — only the facts supplied were used: the client name, the location and the completion of commissioning. The KYN28A-12 description and the 630 A rating are taken from industry documentation and from markings legible on the panels; no panel count, project value or schedule has been stated. Captions describe only what is visible in each photograph.
